Drab to Fab with the Grocery Girls!
A creative workshop to take your knits to the next level!
In this class we will show you multiple ways to add personality, pizazz, and glamour to your knits including:
Adding beads and sparkle for elegance
- Duplicate stitch and ribbons for pops of color and texture
- Design and apply unique motifs
- Simple embroidery to enhance your projects with playful and artistic embellishments
CLASS MATERIALS TO BRING:
- small amounts (5 - 6 colors, 10-15g each) of colorful worsted weight yarns
- small amounts of novelty yarn, mohair or Suri alpaca (think sparkly, or fuzzy) that you may wish to use to add to your swatch (optional)
- tapestry needle, sharp scissors, pencil and eraser
CLASS MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR YOU:
- sequin and sparkle yarns
- beads
HOMEWORK SWATCH:
gauge 21 sts = 4"/10cm
sample used 4mm/US 6 needle
worsted weight yarn in a light to medium color
swatch measures 8½" wide x 7" tall
Swatch Pattern:
- Using the long tail cast on, CO 45 sts
- Knit 3 rows
- Row 1 (RS) - knit
- Row 2 (WS) - k3, purl to last 3 sts, k3
- Repeat rows 1 and 2 until your work measures approximately 6½" tall ending after a RS row.
- Knit 3 rows beginning with a WS row.
- BO all stitches knit wise. Cut your yarn.
Optional: Wet block or steam your swatch before class. This is helpful for the stitches to lay flat and relax the fabric, but not absolutely necessary.
This class will have a lunch break, and for your convenience, the Trail Dog Pizza truck will be here!
